| Abstract: | With the growth of renewable portfolio standards, rising electricity rates and increasing peak load demands, U.S. utilities are seeking new solutions to meet their renewable energy needs. Scalability, cost and reliability have been the primary challenges in quickly rolling out utility solar fields, and SOLON has solved these problems with its new turnkey, “power plant in a box” solar system. A U.S./German solar manufacturer with Made in the USA products, SOLON recently launched the Velocity MW Solar System to provide preconfigured, one-megawatt modular solar fields, which can quickly scale to capacity in as fast as four months. With an estimated 50% global growth rate for solar PV in the coming years, SOLON’s streamlined design will expand solar’s reach by eliminating most of the time, cost and performance risks currently associated with integration. To create Velocity, SOLON leveraged its experience designing and implementing turnkey solutions to major U.S. utilities including Tucson Electric Power Company (TEP) and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). By helping utilities improve peak load demand and meet their renewable energy goals, SOLON is building a brighter future for clean energy. |
