Abstract:In this work, we present two different low-pressure plasma processes that are used to obtain nanoscale coatings on the special geometry of fibers. A 100-200nm thick smooth silver coating is produced and its electromechanical as well as silver-release properties are characterized. Alternatively, we add a monomer gas at low pressure to trigger a plasma polymerization process simultaneous to the above plasma sputter process. The resulting coatings are up to 100nm thick and contain nano patricles of silver produced by the growth mechanism. The morphological, mechanical, electrical and chemical properties of these coatings are investigated.
